Receipt is a font family that turns your $5000 computer system into a $500 receipt printer for only $5.

Receipt is based on that bitmap font they use on receipt printers. It simulates the printer appearance of those tiny printers by using little dots for each pixel. I recommend using it a 10 pt (on the Mac) for the "authentic" receipt printer, but it also looks really good at larger sizes for headline-type material.
One of the interesting aspects of this font family is the bold weight. In most bold variants (at least at the bitmap level), the vertical stems are doubled and the counters remain relatively the same, as in this example:
But in receipt printers - either due to lack of memory or just plain laziness - the bold version takes the regular version and simply doubles every pixel, as in this example:
I hope that you enjoy using these fonts as much as I enjoyed designing them for you! Send me your comments at marty@scootergraphics.com. The demo version on Receipt includes the regular. The bold weight is available to registered users. Please see my page on how to register my fonts.
